The Oura Ring is one of my favorite biohacking tools! A valuable device for tracking and monitoring several health factors, the Oura Ring is top notch. After over 8 years of wearing the ring I'm still hooked. It has 24/7 heart rate monitoring, temperature sensors, guided sessions, sleep analysis of all your sleep stages and timing, HRV monitoring and adapts and responds to you based on the data. It's connected via bluetooth, charges for a few days at a time, water proof and all tied in to an app that captures all the data for you. It's a fantastic tool to keep track of my "Readiness" for the day's activity. Used by biohackers, athletes and anyone looking to get a closer look at how food, workouts, sleep and other lifestyle choices affect your body this is an amazing tool!
Why I’ve Worn the Oura Ring for Years
I’ve been wearing the Oura Ring for several years now, and it’s one of the few health tools I’ve actually stuck with long-term. That alone says a lot.
What keeps me using it isn’t just the data, t’s how actionable and easy it is to integrate into daily life.
1. Sleep tracking that actually helps you improve
Oura breaks down your sleep into deep, REM, and light stages, but more importantly, it gives you a simple readiness score each morning. Over time, you start to clearly see what impacts your sleep like late meals, alcohol, stress, travel, or even screen time.
2. Readiness score = built-in accountability
Instead of guessing how hard to push yourself, Oura gives you a daily readiness score based on sleep, recovery, HRV, and body temperature. On days I might have pushed through fatigue, it’s helped me pull back, and that’s been huge for long-term health.
3. Early insight into your body (before you feel it)
One of the most valuable features is the body temperature and HRV tracking. You can often see concurring data when something is “off” and feel confident your body signals are right on track. That early signal lets you adjust, rest more, hydrate, get outside, before things spiral.
4. Effortless to wear (this matters more than you think)
Unlike bulky wearables, it’s just a ring. No screen, no distractions, no constant notifications. I wear it all day and night without thinking about it, which is probably why I’ve stayed consistent with it.
5. Long-term trends vs. short-term noise
After years of wearing it, one of my favorite parts is the value in the trends. You start to understand your baseline, what your normal HRV is, how your sleep fluctuates seasonally, how stress shows up physically. That level of awareness is hard to get otherwise. And long term, how over the years your over all stress, sleep and activity levels shift.
For example, I went 7 years on a row with 10k steps or over, before going down a bit when I transitioned to working at home. And I see how changes in work, and stress management improved my HRV over the years.
6. Supports a biohacking lifestyle without overwhelm
If you’re into optimizing your health, but don’t want to track 100 things manually, this simplifies it. It gives you just enough data to make better decisions without becoming obsessive. I check it in the morning and at night, then let it go. I love the data and it provides that for me.
If you’re someone who cares about sleep, recovery, and understanding your body on a deeper level, this has been one of the most useful tools I’ve used.
